This is my 33rd book – and after 6 books on Arab Management, 3 on Road Safety, 2 prior of this on My Autobiography (The Story of My Life!) – 12 on my Columns Writings ‘Between Us Only!’ and ‘At My Workplace!’ and the rest on assorted topics!
The book is a bird’s eye view all about me from my all varied articles to date! If one wants to write my Obituary then there is no place to start than from this book – but not forgetting reading the other books as well! I apologise in advance – as I do feel I may have missed out in some articles. But writing my Bibliography, this book will go 90% in doing the work!
The articles produced here are in main part linked to me as Majid aka as Magic – Magic Man as the pseudonym I used in ‘The Forums’! Also interestingly the article – Why Do They Call You Magic? Also Who Is Majid? And My Epitaph! The articles are also about My Family and My Late Parents – Peace Be Upon Them!
There are several bits and pieces spread out in my other 28 books where they could also come here – but then the book will be very big in size and in contents!

People were always asking me – Why don’t you write a book about yourself? The story of your life?
I then decided to accept the challenge and write this book. Like the other books – I have tried to be as factual as possible – and with my usual style of writing of speaking to you directly from my heart – and to be as sincere, genuine, frank, forthright as possible – so that this book can not only be used in Research works – but as a Guide and Beacon for the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren – and future generations by the Grace of Allah God – Ameen Amen.

Yesterday I met this old friend of mine MF. We used to work together in this American run Local Company where I had taken over from an Indian (Extremist /a Hindu Fundamentalist BJP RSS Supporter in our own country!) as The HR Manager. There was a campaign led by him and his supporters on my taking over and supported by many British European Managers! With exception of MF and some others – who thought the change was past due and opportune!
They were quoting references of my ‘fame and notoriety’ of pushing and supporting Omanisation – Recruitment and Training and Development of Local Staff. This had made many expatriates worried – especially those incumbents in jobs that Omanis could easily take over – with some training, support and mentorship! Especially those jobs in Administration and Secretarial – which by law are required to be held by Locals anyway!
The majority of The Indian Led Mafias (with support from some Omani Old Guards –our own!) made a field day of making my life terrible, horrible and dreadful. There was an Indian Staff who was actually a Cancer patient – he did not know it – and had a habit of coming in late from holidays! His boss – British – had ‘demanded’ that HR fire him whilst still at home – and not to return.
Unfortunately, he had already returned – and was told ‘that new HR Omani Manager’ wants to terminate you – please go and see him. My good lady Assistant (Indian) told him – This is not true! Actually M was resisting your termination!
Please come with your medical certificates – and please that present of boat toy model (from Kerala) you want to give your British boss – give it to M instead! After I had left the place – I heard later he died of cancer back home – but I had cancelled the Termination on my own. The Good American CEO supported my decision – despite the outcries and campaigns – by his own – sadly – just to get at me!
One Indian Mechanic came to my Office! He had brought some papers he wanted the Company to sign for him. He had safety boots on – and was standing far from my desk! I told him to come in and sit – he was an ‘untouchable caste’ – and my predecessor had prohibited him to come into the Office.
I told him – come in and sit. He was very nervous and frankly shaking all over. I invited for tea and water – he was actually gulping nervously! I signed his papers – and he was crying ‘I worked 12 years this place. Today first time I sit in this office – and you offer me tea! Sir – they saying very bad things about you – behind your back – as he gave me the gift he had intended for his British boss! I called this man – and gave him a piece of my mind – which just added fuel to the already burning fire!
The day I left – all the Staff – including Indian Machinists – switched off the machines – not allowed unless Fire and Emergency – which raised Alarm Bells to CEO in Dubai by Emergency Line! He called on the loud speaker – what is happening? My Lady Indian Assistant with tears on her eyes said – Sir – they are escorting M to the Gate to say Goodbye – Sir some men (Indian) are even crying Sir! That is alright then – retorted the CEO – Goodbye MS – my nickname!
A British Director (Supporter) told me as I left – tired of all the Mafias campaigns as ‘not worth my tensions being a Diabetic Acute Sick person – even if I needed the money – ‘M coming here was like fresh air blowing over a stale dump heap – now the stale air is back! Despite my advices ‘not to increase rates’ – they lost major contracts from PDO which they always got – and it went to a Chinese company instead! Soon after the company went under as ‘unmanageable’ – and sold off to a Local Partner!
The Local Partner knew I was leaving and had confided to him! He let me go – even though he knew at the time he was going to buy off the company – and brought in a relative ex Zanzibar person to take over from me! Me though born in Zanzibar too was not known to him – besides my Late Father was Omani born – and that is ‘how the cookie crumbles in Oman – then and still now!
