Majid Epitaph (Legacy) – I want to be remembered!

We all have to die one day! Only Allah God is the exception! Jesus Christ Our Great Prophet Issa bin Mariam – will come as The Saviour – and he too will die without exception! So whom I?

 A long time ago as a kid, I used to hear people talk about death and how they will go! I always wondered out aloud how I would go – if my turn came up next!

I always prayed that I would go sudden and people surprised he went away that fast! But I never want to cause trouble and inconveniences to others before I die – if I was to choose these things! But it is all in God Allah hands!

Anyway, I had this dream of ‘dying by starvation’ – I do not know what it meant! Was it going to be real as in the dream – or as a metaphor like liking to eat too much and getting fatter by day – and as now being diabetic case?

Or would it be like my late Father PBUH where he wanted food and water but was denied by The Doctors (they were using instead drips!) – Because they needed to operate on his stomach – because there was a blockage in his small intestines – and till after the operation could be given food!

Anyway only God Almighty Allah SWT Knows these things best!

Sorry for a morbid subject!

Here lies a person who in all his life had acted and stood up for the rights of others – and to whatever extent and even harm and injury and damage to himself personally – and he went down that way!

Always wanting to do good things and help others as much as one could. If he could not, he would be Truthful and offer instead kind words and support – and or offer advices to his best level always!

Where he could change things himself he did – otherwise he spoke out for Change. Always wanted to be fair, just, professional, principled, correct and ethical in all things he did.

A person who was always sincere, genuine and honest – frank, open and forthright who always looked at The Bigger Picture – and never wanted things to go wrong as his main focus and theme in life! Even though many of his efforts were never acknowledged, accepted, recognised and realized – and he became a victim himself in his life, career, and future and with his family too!

He wants to be remembered that way only! Goodbye! Ma Salamaah!

Please Pray for Him – when they tell you he is gone!

There Is No Money In Books Writing (Publishing)!

Or also – Why I am giving up now and with White Flag waving now surrendering!

A few days back, a Senior Corporate Official (now retired!) had visited me at home to check on my health after he had learnt I had a Prostate Operation and was admitted in ICU at Royal Hospital early this year of 2016!

I showed him My Home Library where I keep my 47 books (46 English and the one in Arabic on Road Safety Novel Book – sponsored by PDO in translation and in publishing!). He was really impressed and wondered out aloud why The Society is not aware of the achievements – and if aware – why there was No Support to such talents, skills and innovation in Literary Circles in the country!

He was shocked beyond belief that even The Road Safety Books – even supported by PDO – was getting lukewarm reception – even from The Authorities and NGOs involved in Road Safety Awareness – which with the way we are driving – especially The Youth – and Our Future too – we need these books badly! His own words repeated here!

He also wondered why The Higher Education Institutions in The Country (and GCC) were not after My Arab Management Books – as Reference Books – as there are few books written in Arab Management and In English and by The Locals themselves – as there are VERY FEW of such books!

He got the shocks more when I told him that Jashanmal – The UAE Books Sellers and Agents – had returned ALL MY BOOKS SAMPLES – saying they cannot stock or distribute these books!

I have also explained here on Family Bookshops have closed down in Oman where they stocked my books! WHSmith – we had differences with their Sales Team – one person who enjoys our hospitality of Oman welcome and reception – but I personally think he is ‘against any talents demonstrated by locals to shine!

I complained to The Omani Owners – but in the end I had to give up! Surrender with White Flag – as we had surrendered in The Zanzibar Bloody Revolution – where Omanis especially were butchered in cold blood – and we had to line up and bow down to a not even Muslim person from the island! Our Great Friends and Protectors left us in the lurch – and betrayed us!

So The Great Person said to me – The Only Reason I can see is that People in High Places especially – Do NOT LIKE what you are writing! And even if ‘they support you on The Road Safety Books – it will lead to the other books recognition – which they feel impotent not to Stop –as you publish in USA – and it worries them that you may involve The USA Embassy etc. if they do that!

It seems there are are strenuous concerted efforts to keep you down – to muffle and marginalise you – as if you do not exist – and there are no values or esteem in your books – and what you have written!

They prefer you to ‘push the dirt under the ‘stinking carpet’ – or why wash the dirty linen in public! In this strive, there are our own too – The Old Guards – and The Mafias – and started even in killing your columns even – because you say and speak The Bitter and Painful Truth!

It started also in your job career and prospects – and now is in Your Books too! So sad and tragic!
Because like you always say too – No one can defeat a person who never gives up! – Babe Ruth! And writing is the only profession where no one considers you ridiculous if you make no money! – Jules Renard! And so many others as in your websites – and main Books one at http://www.myownmajid.com

So I asked him – Tell me! What should I do now? Should I give up – and just wave The White Flag of Surrender? He was so confused and perplexed – and gave me blank disbelief stares! He did not even touch the dates and fruits – and declined even the cup of coffee!

He just told me – Keep good place your books. Preserve and Safe keep them!

One day people will be looking for them desperately! Maybe it may not be in your life time – but trust me – it will happen! As it has happened to many others in Oman – found and revered posthumously even! Trust me – he said!

Yesterday I met this old friend of mine MF. We used to work together in this American run Local Company where I had taken over from an Indian (Extremist /a Hindu Fundamentalist BJP RSS Supporter in our own country!) as The HR Manager. There was a campaign led by him and his supporters on my taking over and supported by many British European Managers! With exception of MF and some others – who thought the change was past due and opportune!

They were quoting references of my ‘fame and notoriety’ of pushing and supporting Omanisation – Recruitment and Training and Development of Local Staff. This had made many expatriates worried – especially those incumbents in jobs that Omanis could easily take over – with some training, support and mentorship! Especially those jobs in Administration and Secretarial – which by law are required to be held by Locals anyway!

The majority of The Indian Led Mafias (with support from some Omani Old Guards –our own!) made a field day of making my life terrible, horrible and dreadful. There was an Indian Staff who was actually a Cancer patient – he did not know it – and had a habit of coming in late from holidays! His boss – British – had ‘demanded’ that HR fire him whilst still at home – and not to return.

Unfortunately, he had already returned – and was told ‘that new HR Omani Manager’ wants to terminate you – please go and see him. My good lady Assistant (Indian) told him – This is not true! Actually M was resisting your termination!

Please come with your medical certificates – and please that present of boat toy model (from Kerala) you want to give your British boss – give it to M instead! After I had left the place – I heard later he died of cancer back home – but I had cancelled the Termination on my own. The Good American CEO supported my decision – despite the outcries and campaigns – by his own – sadly – just to get at me!

One Indian Mechanic came to my Office! He had brought some papers he wanted the Company to sign for him. He had safety boots on – and was standing far from my desk! I told him to come in and sit – he was an ‘untouchable caste’ – and my predecessor had prohibited him to come into the Office.

I told him – come in and sit. He was very nervous and frankly shaking all over. I invited for tea and water – he was actually gulping nervously! I signed his papers – and he was crying ‘I worked 12 years this place. Today first time I sit in this office – and you offer me tea! Sir – they saying very bad things about you – behind your back – as he gave me the gift he had intended for his British boss! I called this man – and gave him a piece of my mind – which just added fuel to the already burning fire!

The day I left – all the Staff – including Indian Machinists – switched off the machines – not allowed unless Fire and Emergency – which raised Alarm Bells to CEO in Dubai by Emergency Line! He called on the loud speaker – what is happening? My Lady Indian Assistant with tears on her eyes said – Sir – they are escorting M to the Gate to say Goodbye – Sir some men (Indian) are even crying Sir! That is alright then – retorted the CEO – Goodbye MS – my nickname!

A British Director (Supporter) told me as I left – tired of all the Mafias campaigns as ‘not worth my tensions being a Diabetic Acute Sick person – even if I needed the money – ‘M coming here was like fresh air blowing over a stale dump heap – now the stale air is back! Despite my advices ‘not to increase rates’ – they lost major contracts from PDO which they always got – and it went to a Chinese company instead! Soon after the company went under as ‘unmanageable’ – and sold off to a Local Partner!

The Local Partner knew I was leaving and had confided to him! He let me go – even though he knew at the time he was going to buy off the company – and brought in a relative ex Zanzibar person to take over from me! Me though born in Zanzibar too was not known to him – besides my Late Father was Omani born – and that is ‘how the cookie crumbles in Oman – then and still now!

Dear Colleagues,

I have read Majid’s Road Safety book and it is comprehensive with real cases of accidents. I used the book to train team members on accident investigations, however; it is very useful to prevent ourselves from falling into the same situations.

Recently; It came to my knowledge that a local is burnt while splashing petrol on dry wood fire in order to improve burning but unfortunately he got burnt and currently at burns ward. How many cases had and have occurred and why don’t we learn? Mostly, we do not read!

My Responses!

Yes I have done that (Contacting Banks and Companies CSR!) to support my books distribution and marketing.

I have first tried my Bank which is BankMuscat.. But nothing forthcoming. I even asked to increase my credit card level which they rejected as being over 55. Tried Bank Sohar and others too. Nothing..!

One crude Bank CSR Top Guy said to me – We are not in the business of buying and selling books! So sad and tragic! Yet all the talks are on SMEs and Self Employments etc. All talks and rhetoric. I do not know if our HM knows these vile games being played and use of his good name in vain.

I approached several Top Guys and VIPs HH and HEs But nothing. Even they do not say they got my sent books compliments to them or not. My targets are Expatriates especially in UAE over 5 million and KSA also. Negotiations ongoing with at least one in UAE. Next is to try KSA. My books are all in English with exception of one Arabic Behind The Wheel! www.createspace.com/4875352 .

Translation and publishing was sponsored by PDO CSR. Alhamdu Lillah. Also another edition by Daleel of MB Group. But still to see the books distributed by them to ROP ORSA etc. Though I did on my own my copies.

But no Thanks nor letter. Mind you this is a Road Safety Book in high class profile in Arabic by PDO with PDO images inside. PDO also bought 700 Rials worth of my books for their Management Library Books. On the Press Side please note HE Minister of Information only Muscat Daily covered my Road Safety Books. Others refused to touch my books with a long pole even!

Yet in The Oman Daily Observer where I had columns already – I had to beg borrow and steal to cover the book. Actually started my downfall spiralling with clashes with some Indians who joined forces with our own Omanis Top Guys to abruptly kill my columns. I think our HM does not know what is really going on with entrusted responsibilities people or they do not tell him what is Really Going on. Because I saw an interview where he expressed love for books but was increasing denied time to read books. I sent even to HM but not sure if delivered or thrown File 13. So sad and tragic frown emoticon

The books on Road Safety were even given lukewarm reception because I am anti person perhaps speaking The Truth and refuse to continue to push the dirt under the already stinking rotting carpet! Bad Hearts Haasidyyn all around with Old Guards and Mafias! We know our Driving. Yet the RSA books failed to get across. Why? Because written by that Majid Al Suleimany Omani? Yes I think? Loyal and loves HM and Oman Yes…but… One Top British CEO also Americans are shocked by The Lukewarm reception Oman was enlightenment and top in Literacy world per history! But now slowly being strangled by its own peoples! Allah Kareem Alhamdu Lillah!

About Public Libraries in Oman

There is the PDO Technical Library in Qorum and I understand one in Manah by HM. If you check Reading Literacy Rankings worldwide Oman is in the bottom lists… which should not be the case with our historical records. If the books were by an Expatriate in Oman or and especially Pretty White Lady everyone will come to support in expectations of perhaps love favours! My columns were taken by one anyway! So it is not absurd as it may look! ALLAH KAREEM!

Thanks Majid for the information, I didn’t know the situation is that bad. I always think and question why in Oman we don’t have a public library, like most countries which respect knowledge

I know about the PDO technical library, but there should be a public library somewhere easy for the public with variety of books. I remember when I was in Abu Dhabi in 80s they had public library as part of the cultural center. It is so sad that we are at the bottom of the world wide Reading Literacy Rankings.

It is a pity that books by Omanis are not looked by the content and how they will benefit the society, but by other criterion!!!

It seems not. The path of knowledge is the path of truth. Hang on brother Majid, Allah is with those who show patience. Ameen
