Arab Management Books by Omani (Arab) Author!

A         Psychology of Arab Management Thinking!

B - Psychology

 trafford.com/08-0889

Book Theme – This is a no punch spared, no barrels held, no frills and no play stuff book but to be as open, frank, sincere and honest as far as is possible – in deep soul search and self-analysis – so it can be a learning process for this generation – and for others to come in the future!

As an Omani, the Author offers great insight into his country’s management issues, but he is quick to point out that many of the observations he makes can be applied to business throughout the Arab World! While the subject matter will mainly appeal to Readers approaching it from an Arab perspective, students of international business can also learn a lot from the Author’s research – The USA Review of Books

For a long time now, I have been putting off the idea of writing this book – though it had been on my mind for a long time now. The mere idea of writing this book scared me to bits and pieces – for many valid and pertinent reasons

Arabs, work is worshipped (Islamic Religion calls on us to respect work like as if it is in praying!). We are also brought up to be polite, courteous and decent (at least a majority of us). Abrupt, ugly, rudeness and distort are discouraged. Also it is not easy to say NO – as part of the culture, customs, traditions and heritage. So what went wrong here – especially in Management circles? Why are we behind the rest of the world, despite all our riches and resources?

I hope you will enjoy the book. I have tried to be as frank, open, forthright, honest, sincere and genuine as I can – as Readers who know me can give credence and credibility to me and will vouch and authenticate my works!

I have not spared myself, so there is just for it to be honest, sincere, genuine as I possibly can!

The book won The USA Gold Seal of Literary Excellence 2013 in Short List of Eric Hoffer Award.

B         A Cry For Help!

A Cry For Help - THIS  Talents 3 PDO Talents Day

 http://bookstore.trafford.com/Products/SKU-000142695/A-Cry-For-Help.aspx

 A Cry For Help!

A frank, honest, open and call-a-spade-a-spade no punch-spared, no barrels held stuff and no frills play book exposing the increasing lack of ethics, principles, professionalism and tolerance – plus increased radicalisation, extremism and fundamentalising of the Offices environment and in similar to the overall similar fast changing facts of the ground in the region.

Author Majid Al Suleimany exposes the increasing extremism, fundamentalism and radicalization in management styles and employees’ receptions and reaction in his new book “A Cry for Help!” – Published by Trafford USA.

With over 35 years of human resource experience in Oman and with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Al Suleimany digs deep into the Arab office environment. Suleimany spins “a frank, honest and open book exposing the increasing lack of ethics, principles, professionalism and tolerance in the office environment.”

“A Cry for Help!” focuses on the particular type of management that is being used in the Arab workplace while explaining the context and perspectives in the work environment. He goes on to explain what is peculiar, special, or particular to that work in the context of, and in comparison to, management styles of other nations.

He writes from a management perspective and thirty years employment in human resources and training. No punches are pulled in describing his experiences with racial prejudice in big corporation culture, both from expatriate staff and even his fellow Omani workers.

But the scope is not limited to business issues. Reasons for the economic lag in Arabic countries are also floated: “I suspect that a real problem exists in the mind of Arabs: They do not feel that they own their own countries.” Written as a possible warning and Omen, these issues seem prescient of the contemporary “Arab Springs” that followed a year later!

Addressing the increased extremism, fundamentalism, and lack of tolerance and forbearance in the Arab workforce, Author Majid Al Suleimany presents A Cry for Help!: Arabian Management Services — Context and Perspectives.

In three parts, A Cry for Help! concentrates on the management styles and aspects of companies located in the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council that encompasses Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

It discusses the:

  •  Growing radicalization of local staff
  • Misbehaving expatriates
  • Unhappy, dissatisfied staff
  • Bad treatment of Staff especially by some Expatriates – mainly Indian, European and Western Staff on Locals
  • Increasing extremism and fundamentalism in The Offices
  • Sensitive, related issues

In A Cry for Help!, Al Suleimany, A Management Expert, focuses on what is particular about the type of Arab management, its context and perspectives, and what is peculiar, special, or particular to that work in the context and comparison to management styles of other nations. Using personal experiences, examples, and illustrations, Suleimany exposes the new reality and truth and moves away from the trend and approach of hiding issues and problems.

“It is a unique book, written in a unique style. It is a soul-searching and critical evaluation of one’s own people in the field. He extols the culture and importance of work in his religion and the pitfalls and lackluster attitude of the Managers in position about the Principles and Process of Management.”

  • Do not tell me you are going to write this book! I just cannot believe it!British CEO
  • I thought after your last book – and the end of your columns – you will stop writing! You have me pleasantly surprised!Senior Omani Public Official (Retired)

This is my Third Arab Management Book after Psychology of Arab Management Thinking! And A Cry For Help! And my 12th book! Three books are on Road Safety and the balance are based on my columns and writings!

All my Arab Management books have been written after a major upheaval in my life at the work front and elsewhere involving my life! I was always under the impression that my book A Cry For Help! As was going to be my last book in Arab Management with the events that followed proving my case why ‘I needed help!’ as an Arab Manager! Though trying best to keep to myself – and trying to avoid conflict and confrontations as much as I possibly could – but people would not leave me alone! They were still after me!

I then decided to accept the challenge and write this book. Like the other books – I have tried to be as factual as possible – and with my usual style of writing of speaking to you directly from my heart – and to be as sincere, genuine, frank, forthright as possible – so that this book can not only be used in Research works – but as a Guide and Beacon for the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren – and future generations by the Grace of Allah SWT God – Ameen Amen.

It is my Final Attempt to High light a ‘Quickly Deteriorating Situation’ before malaise, stalemate and decadence sets in at The Work Front and its environment! In this book nobody has been spared – and that includes even myself too!

MUSCAT, Oman – In his new book “Psychology of Arab Management Thinking: Arabian Management Series” (published by Trafford Publishing), author and analyst Majid Al Suleimany explores the management styles that he believes helped lead to the events of Arab Spring.

“This is a no-punch-held-back book,” Al Suleimany says. “It critically reviews and assesses with deep soul searching analysis the management styles and approaches of the Arab world, especially in Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC) vis-à-vis the international companies operating in the international arena.”

An excerpt from “Psychology of Arab Management Thinking”:

“As Arabs work is worshipped in our Religion – so what went wrong here? Especially in Management circles? Why are we behind the rest of the world, despite all our riches, potentials and resources?

This is a no punch held back, no barrels held, no stiff, no frills play – but to be as blunt, frank, open, honest and sincere as far as possible – so the book can be a learning experience and process for this generation – and future to come – especially after the recent Arab Spring uprisings!”

Al Suleimany knows his book fills a critical need. “Little is known of Arab management styles,” he says, “especially as written from the inside by an Arab himself as an experienced professional local HR and management expert, advisor and counselor.”

The Book Review – The book was reviewed by one John E. RoperUSA – Quote www.theusreview.com/reviews/Psychology-Suleimany.html

“It is only by building on existing strengths, and moving forwards on established capabilities that economic maturity can be achieved and rising living standards maintained.”

Writers approach their craft with a variety of motivations. Some search for fame, others for fortune, and still others because spinning words together is one of the few things they are really good at. Some, though, write because what they have to say is burning inside them, and the only release is to share with others what has so inflamed their emotions. Such is the case with the author, whose passion for his people and his culture has driven him to speak out against the problems within Arab management practices so that, as he says, he can one day tell his grandchildren that by writing books he did something about them.

The author approaches his topic as an insider. Having worked extensively in the global business environment and in human resources in particular, both with Arab and international leadership, he has seen firsthand the shortsightedness, prejudice, paranoia, and autocratic tendencies of many Arab managers as well as the unfortunate fact that motivation and morale are frequently higher among Arab employees when someone other than one of their own countrymen is in charge. These observations have gnawed at him, and he questions not only why the situation within the corporate world is like this but also what can be done about it.

As an Omani, the Author offers great insight into his own country’s management issues, but he is quick to point out that many of the observations he makes can be applied to businesses throughout the Arab world. While the subject matter of this book will mainly appeal to readers approaching it from an Arab perspective, students of international business can also learn a lot from the author’s research – Unquote

What The Book Had Said!

As aforementioned, the book is about Arab Management issues and aspects – with personal experiences, exposures and examples of the Author stretching over 35 years experiences in Management and Human Resources – and as a Consultant, Advisor and Expert for over the past 10 years in a number of companies.

Continued – Author’s Note – For a long time now, I have been putting off the idea of writing this book – though it had been on my mind for a long time now. The mere idea of writing this book scared me to bits and pieces – for many valid and pertinent reasons.

I hope you will enjoy the book. I have tried to be as frank, open, forthright, honest, sincere and genuine as I can – as Readers who know me can give credence and credibility to me and will vouch and authenticate my works.

I have not spared myself, so there is just for it to be honest, sincere, genuine and hard hitting – sparing no one. Just No One!
